Hurricane Sandy Environmental Support
WCD Group was retained by ProSource Technologies, LLC to provide environmental support in its evaluation of primary residences that sustained significant damage by Hurricane Sandy. New York State was awarded funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program to provide financial assistance for buyouts and acquisitions to homeowners of residential properties located inside the highest risk areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy, whose primary residences were substantially damaged by this superstorm within 13 New York State Counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester. This funding will be administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), in accordance with the State of New York Action Plan For Community Development Block Grant Program – Disaster Recovery Action Plan.

WCD carried out Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for more than 350 homes in NY State, and nearly 700 Tier II Environmental Reviews. Additionally, asbestos inspections were conducted on over 500 homes. WCD performed all project monitoring during abatement, and air quality monitoring for dust and lead during any required demolition to ensure all was carried out in accordance with State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) regulations.
