WCD Acquired by Gallagher Bassett
WCD Group is extremely pleased to announce the acquisition of WCD by Gallagher Bassett, the risk management division of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (NYSE: AJG). Established in 1927 and headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, the U.S.-based Gallagher is the third largest global risk management and insurance services company in the world, with 2017 revenues of more than $6 billion. With over 25,000 global employees and assets exceeding $12.5 billion, Gallagher is a member of the Fortune 500 and, for seven consecutive years, has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies.
As part of Gallagher, WCD service offerings and capabilities will increase significantly. We will continue to provide best-in-class environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, remediation management, property loss, and restoration services. In addition, our national reach will expand to include more construction safety, property loss adjusting and response, transportation and industrial environmental services, as well as claims, emergency response, administration, and resolution support services.
WCD leadership and management will remain unchanged. Each of the WCD Members has agreed to a multi-year contract, so we are here to stay. Chip D’Angelo will continue to run the company, along with John Hoyle Ph.D., Eric Telemaque, Jim Capritti, CHMM, Chris Spicer, CIH CHMM, Kevin Wash, and Rick Gimello. WCD will remain as an operating unit of Gallagher Bassett, maintaining our WCD brand.
WCD Group started providing environmental claims and litigation support for insurance carriers in the field and the courtroom, and quickly moved upstream in the project lifecycle to provide environmental consulting, engineering, insurance consulting and remediation, and restoration management.
Scott Hudson, President and CEO of Gallagher Bassett commented, “WCD Group’s extensive knowledge of environmental, safety, and health issues combined with decades of expertise in the real estate, construction, remediation, property management, and insurance industries, and a thorough understanding of claims and litigation, will be a welcome addition and a perfect fit into the GB family to help enhance and grow our loss control and risk management business. We are looking to WCD to become the environmental platform that will be able to provide highly specialized and necessary services to our global customers.”
Mr. D’Angelo added, “WCD has attracted and declined suitors for years. However, this opportunity became quite appealing because it solidifies the future for everyone at WCD. The complementary services and synergies will allow WCD to grow into a national and international operation. The commitment to quality, innovation and expertise at GB will provide growth for our people. Everyone at WCD agrees that becoming part of Gallagher Bassett and the larger Gallagher family is going to result in the very best outcomes for our employees and our mutual customers.”
